How can everyone bring a little peace into the world this christmas?

I think that everyone can bring peace to this world the moment they decide not be ashamed of who they are and act according to their heart’s desires. And when they tell their stories.

[W]hile there is some relationship between the persecution of gays and the anti-miscegenation laws in the United States, I think the true analogy is to the women’s movement. What we represent as gays in America is an alternative to the traditional male-structured society. The possibility that we can form ourselves sexually — even form our sense of what a sex is — sets us apart from the traditional roles we were given by our fathers.

Living here in the United States, do you feel detached from violence in India?

Maybe I’d be able to feel detached if I lacked personal ties to the situation, but I’ve been to all of the sites that were attacked, I have family members who live very close to all the sites. I was unable to enjoy the luxury of apathy.
